Link/Daily Yonder: Alchemy in Scottsburg, IN

Mary Keltner writes:
Interesting article, thought you might want to read this: Alchemy in Scottsburg, IN/Spurred by an insult, led by a strong mayor and grounded in volunteerism, Scottsburg, Indiana, has replenished itself as both a community and a regional economic force.
-MARY KELTNERThanks, Mary Keltner: Many progressive Adair Countians already make the Daily Yonder/Keep It Rural a daily read. One of the co-editors of the Daily Yonder is Bill Bishop, a one-time writer at the Lexington Herald who left an indelible imprint on Kentucky and is one of my personal all-time favorite Kentucky Journalists/Columnists, ranking up there with John Ed Pearce, Allen Trout, and Pete Walker. We hope CM readers will make Daily Yonder a regular read. - EW

Vicki Burton Amos writes:
Is there anyway you could try to help me locate a photo of my grandfather, Granvil Burton? He grew up in the Columbia area and was the son of Ambrose Burton. Unlike Ambrose, who seemed to like to have his picture taken, my grandfather must have been terribly camera shy because we have yet to locate any picture of him here in Indiana where he migrated to in the thirties looking for work. I think he always planned to move back but died before his time. He is buried at Bearwallow Cemetery.Thank you for any consideration you may provide.Vicki Burton Amos --Vicki Burton Amos
Thanks, Vicki Amos, for the query. Sorry, we didn't locate a photo of Granvil Burton.

That great writer, Jason Harmon, sent us an Ambrose Burton photo which you can see at this link (and we're reprinting by popular demand (yours) today: Ambrose Burton's enormous family touched Adair CO, KY, long after his death There's a photo here and one of Jason Harmon's masterpiece stories, which starts with the question: "Is a Gooley Burton just a Burton who is tight with his money?"
