2011-09-01 - 1103 W. Stockton ST, Edmonton, KY - Photo by Gaye Shaw, Executive Director, Edmonton-Metcalfe Co. Chamber of Commerce.
Larry Martin, SR, came to Subtle, Metcalfe Co., KY, 16 years ago bringing a store of knowledge about blueberry production to the area. He discovered that the more acid soil was ideal for blueberry production, and that this area of Kentucky would produce blueberries at a time when prices would be highest. He's shared with others, and today, the KBGA has 160 members, from several Kentucky Counties and out of state. The new office will be open six days a week. Soon the association hopes to build a new warehouse to sell fresh, fresh frozen, and processed blueberry products.
