Tech: Did you score a $99 HP Touchpad? When the HP Touchpad was reduced to $99 at stores around the country, most shelves were quickly emptied. That was the case at the Columbia, KY Super Walmart early Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2011. One would be bargain hunter was told, "You're 30 minutes late." One report indicated that the Fire Sale on Touchpads gave the device a sales rate at or eclipsing some of the first days of iPAD 2. If you were one of the lucky ones, let us know your experience. Perhaps by sending a self made photo you took on the device. If you bought or own a Touchpad and an Apple iPAD, send us your comparative ratings of the two devices - and let us know the comparative prices you paid. More and more people are finding Tablet devices a very handy consumer device - though not so useful for real work on the internet. We'd be particularly interested in how well CMs Mobile Version fits the Touchpad, Smartphones, or iPAD. -CM 2011-08-22 10:36:45 | Comments | Printable version

Beulah Villa: Such a beautiful place, if now only in our memories Old SULPHUR WELL, KY By Martha Berry Beulah Villa! What memories that name stirs up. Dad loved going there to see Mr. Crenshaw and eat the wonderful food. And we always ate on the screened porch. It has been a long time and memories are sometimes fuzzy but when the writer mentioned the screened room, I knew, at least this time, my memory was correct. Mr. Crenshaw and my Dad were friends and they loved to talk. After dinner, we children would sit on the porch in the big rocking chairs and enjoy just rockin'. Or go to the swinging bridge. I'm afraid that I am one of the shakers. Loved the motion of the bridge swinging. Dad also loved the sulphur water and, being the "Daddy's girl" that I was, I had to try it. I found that it went down easier if I held my nose. Now that's quite a trick. Try it sometime. But once past my nose, the water was cool and refreshing. I don't remember an aftertaste. How sad that such a beautiful place is here only in our memories. -Martha Berry 2011-08-22 05:30:29 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History Birthdays and Anniversaries for August 22 Happy Anniversary, Alice and Everett Wheeler (1961) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, David and Holly Jessie (1986) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Austen McCann | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Duchie Beck Helm | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jacob Burton (1986) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jacob Curry (2003) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, James (Bubby) Jessee | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jamie Phelps | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jaxon Trent Spires (2004) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kevin Wilson | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Melody Russell Pollard | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Noah Polston (1997) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Tami Coomer Gearlds (1979) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Wanda Beard | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Adrian (Tater) Wethington, 76, Liberty, KY (1943-2020) Obituary | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Aileen P.
