Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer Ranked No. 6 in NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll

Blue Raider schedule includes six nationally ranked opponents

News from Lindsey Wilson College Athletics

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team is ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Top-25 Poll released today by NAIA officials.

The Blue Raiders received 430 voting points from the 19 raters that represent the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups across the NAIA.

Florence Aldrighetti, Adair Co., KY (1927-2011)

She was a member of a respected South Adair Co., KY family. She was member of Pierce's Chapel Baptist Church, a retired factory worker and a homemaker.

Florence Aldrighetti age 84 a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, KY passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 at 1:35pmCT at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY after several months illness.

The funeral service will be Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Elbert Hadley officiating. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY. The family request visitation after 4:30pmCT on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the funeral home.

Clan MacQuarrie Gathering at Bearwallow UMC a McQueary congregation

Event of the Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter of the Clan MacQuarrie Society will be in Columbia, KY. All MacQuarries (McQuearys), descendants, relatives and FRIENDS (this takes in everybody in Adair County) are welcome. -CM

The Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter of the Clan MacQuarrie Society (KTCMS) will hold it inaugural meeting in Columbia, Kentucky on Saturday, September 24, 2011.

For those interested in a golf outing, the first KTCMS Golf Tournament will be held at Dale Hollow State Park at 3pmCT, the day before, Friday, September 23, 2011, weather permitting.

Adair Heritage Association Annual Meeting is September 8, 2011

The Adair Heritage Association's annual meting will be September 8, 2011 at 6pmCT at the Adair Annex Basement, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. All members are urged to attend this meeting. Annual memberships are also due at this time. A single membership is $20, family membership is $30 and organization (such as a club) are $50. Please make checks payable to Adair Heritage Association. You can mail them to AHA, P.O. Box 963, Columbia, KY 42728 or drop them off at the county judge's office located on the public square. Card of Thanks from Family of Charles V. (Sparky) Sparks

The family of Charles (Sparky) Sparks, Adair Co., KY (1961-2011) would like to express their thanks for the outpouring of love, respect and support shown during his hospitalization and death.

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers, visits, cards, food, keeping the yards mowed and all expressions of sympathy.

A special Thank You to the Fire Departments, to the Columbia Christian Church, and others who provided food at the church and at the Fire Department.

Also, a special Thank You to the firefighters of the Columbia/Adair County Fire Department, the Breeding Area Fire Department, and the Knifley Volunteer Fire Department, to the Adair County Emergency Service, Westlake Hospital ER, Bro. Raymond Martin, Bro. Terry White, Charlie Shaw and the staff of the State Fire Marshal's Office, Firefighters and EMS workers throughout the state, band members and special thanks Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

Charles was a loving son, husband and Dad. He will be greatly missed.

The family: Trent, Tammy, Helen and Charlie Sparks.

Concert on the Square tonight, August 16, 2011

The Hinge, from Campbellsville, will open tonight's Concert on the Square, in the 200 Quadrant of Downtown Columbia, KY, starting at 7pmCT, Tuesday evening, August 16, 2011. Singer-Songwriter Trevor Davis will follow. Trevor Davis is from San Diego, CA. Davis' most famous song is "Not Enough." He has sung the National Anthem at San Diego Padres games. The concert is free. Those who attend are asked to bring their own chairs. Sponsored by Cafe on the Square and Holy Grounds, the Lindsey Wilson Student Government Association, and the Student Activities Board at Lindsey Wilson College.
