Mothers Day Chickens

2011-06-01 - Photo by Jessica Molter.
Jessica Molter writes: "The chicks were a pleasant surprise on Mother's Day. The hen hatched out 15." Baby chickens have always been a happy sight and sound. I wonder if anyone else remembers when baby chickens were shipped from hatcheries through the mail? They came, I believe, 100 to the big cardboard box. In the mornings, before the clerks opened the windows, you cold hear the chickens over the rhythmic sounds of the carriers and clerks casing the mail. It's a welcome sight to see backyard chickens gaining popularity again. -EW

Home(s) needed for two cats; one with small attitude

Brian writes:
Need to find home for cats: Due to owner's allergies, I will need to find a good home for my house cats. Cookie (the gray one) is about 5 years old, he's been fixed, also has been de-clawed, and is house broken. He is very affectionate, likes to sit in your lap, and like to meet new people. The black one is Sierra, she is between 8 & 9 years old, and has also been fixed and is also house broken. She is mainly the typical lazy cat; lies around all day - not much activity unless Cookie starts chasing her. She isn't as affectionate as Cookie, but will on occasion sit in your lap or on the couch with you. Would be willing to split them up if interested party only wants one or the other. Bell family took several seats on Creed Lacy bus

JoAnn Bell Steinhilber writes:
I had the great pleasure of being one of the students on Creed's bus in the 1970's. We would change buses at the intersection of 61 & 768 where the high school students would get on Creed's bus so he could take us on to the high school. I have eight brothers and sisters who also rode the bus, so needless to say the Bell family took up several of the seats. Creed has always been one of the best! Enjoy your retirement!
