By Dean Roach

COLUMBIA, KY (2011-05-19) - The Columbia church of Christ has been accepting everyday essentials for those affected by the recent tornadoes in Alabama.

We received overwhelming support from our congregation and sister congregations, as well as this wonderful community.

We packed up over forty large boxes of items which filled a fourteen-foot trailer. The items were picked up by the Richmond church of Christ on Thursday morning and are headed to Hamilton, Alabama.

Hamilton is a short distance from Hackelburg, where the items will be distributed to all who are in need.

We wish to thank everyone for their tremendous generosity in this time of great need. -Dean Roach. Because He lives.

Says majority exceed posted speeds, anyway

Comments re article 44437 Posted Downtown Speed Limits vary by point of entry

Donna Saunders writes:
The point is moot since the majority of people exceed all of those speed limits anyway. I think the police would have an easy time with tickets! - Donna Saunders
You're right. But we hope that tickets and fines are never the point or aim of the local police. Our hope is that no one is ever fined. We'd rather see design changes, education, and 'time out/coffee break' stops by police to make the streets safe. We want folks to always see local police as guardian friends, Columbia as a welcoming place. That's another thing Columbia has going for it. -EW
