Expert ruling in on the Mystery Sign: Cash Dept. Store However, Mike Watson confirms evidence of Brother Jim's eagle eye picking up faintest remnants of similar sign on the other side of the buildingMike Watson writes: Upon visual examination of the Russell Building sign, it certainly appears to say "Cash Dept Store" only. At some time - either before or after the Cash Dept Story sign - there has been another painted sign and the letters of it mesh far too completely with the CDS one. Brother Jim's eagle eye picked up the faintest remnants of a similar sign on the other side of the front of the building. I could not make out any letters, but there has been a sign painted there at one time. There were also painted bands, perhaps lettered signs, between the second and third floors, beneath the windows, but I can't make out any wording. Information wanted on proper disposal of US Flag Doug McCammish writes: I'm hoping some of our local veterans have solved the problem of disposing of worn-out flags. As I recall, a retired US flag is supposed to be burned with ceremony and respect. Our big flags (6' x 10') become worn after about a year of the wind up on this hill and have to be retired. I'd appreciate advice on the proper disposal of them. Thanks, Doug 2011-03-18 12:03:47 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
