Joint Lenten luncheon services start Wed. March 9, 2011 at CUMC

The schedule for the 2011 Lenten and Good Friday Services, to be held at the Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, has been released and includes Lenten services starting at 12:05pmCT followed by a lunch at 12:30pmCT each Wednesday. A Friday service, with no food served, service only, will be held at the Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg ST, Columbia KY.

The Columbia Police Department activities report has been issued for February 2011, and now includes a new feature, gas used. For February, the number of gallons listed is 995.

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky's annual unemployment rate declined to 10.5 percent in 2010 from 10.7 percent in 2009, while nonfarm employment gained jobs for the first time in three years, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

In last night's Columbia City Council meeting, the council unanimously adopted a vision proposed by Heather Spoon to make Columbia, Kentucky, at model in efficient, sustainable energy use for rural America.

The vote followed a presentation by the charismatic director of Lindsey Wilson College's Energy Technology Academy (ECTA), which included some blockbuster ideas and revelations.

My total for St. Baldrick's Foundation "Shaving for a Cure'" to fight childhood cancer is on the rise! As of this evening, I have $915 in donations. Thanks so much to everyone!! Adair County you make me proud. Let's keep that amount climbing and see how far we can go! Can't wait to announce my total on the 26th at Campbellsville University when I'll be going bald for a cure!
