100 years ago: Hideous beast was plaguing West Glens Fork, KY By "Jim" I found this in the Glensfork newletter in the March 15, 1911 News while rummaging about in search of ideas for an upcoming "100 years ago" column: The folks on the west prong of Glensfork are ill-at-ease on account of a hideous animal that has recently made an appearance in their midst. And it is not a mere will-o' the wisp or make-believe beast either for some of the boys have seen it in daytime, and others have gone after it with their dogs, and say that it easily put them to flight."Jim" 2011-03-05 20:22:47 | Comments | Printable version

The total on the website is just for online donations. I have received many more donations in the form of checks which are made out to St. Baldrick's. I am mailing the checks in so they can be posted on the website. The community has definitely responded with a caring heart. My current balance as of this morning is $575 which means I met the $500 and am raising my goal to $1,000. As I said before, I really didn't know what to set my goal at and decided to go low, but as you can see I underestimated the people of Adair County!
