Research shows 588 births per year at one time IN Adair

New babies were not From Off back then, (1911-1920)
"Jim" writes:
There's way too much truth in this statement.

In the second decade of the 20th century (1911-1920), there was an average of 568 births per year in Adair County, and nearly all the children were born to residents of Adair County.

In the 14 year period ending just before the new millennium (1986-1999), the average had dropped below 16 births per year, and a quick scan of surnames (child's and mother's maiden) reveals that a significant number of those were born to parents who resided in Metcalfe, Cumberland, and Casey counties.

Thank You from Leila B. Jones!

'Moms can do anything' - even graduate from college, studying online, while working and raising a family.

I would like to thank everyone who believed in me! Special Thanks to my husband Mark L. Jones for his patience and support during all my studying. Thanks to our children, Austin, Ashley and Shelby for reminding me everyday that "Moms can do anything." Thank to the doctors and staff at Green River Veterinary, whom I could not have achieved my degree without. Special thanks to Dr. Ricky Williams, math professor at Lindsey Wilson College, who proctored all of my exams, juggling around my hectic exam and work schedule. I want to urge anyone who is debating on finishing school or going to college to take the leap and follow your dreams, it is worth every minute. I believe it gives a person a new sense of accomplishment and provides a good role model for the children and young people that your life touches. Often a person can inspire someone during their lifetime, just by setting an example.-Leila B. Jones
