Snow removal crews seen out at work, at 3amCT

Victoria Pike writes:
Yes, the road crews did a fine job cleaning our roads. I looked out about 3amCT and they were hard at work here in front of Wallyworld. I didn't have to try out my new front end loader equipped with a bucket to get out. Thanks so much for your hard work. - Vicky

Question: What is generic name for radio talk shows?

Sandra Johnson writes:
Driving through the southern US, I was entertained by radio shows that offered items for sale, swap or barter - things like parts for tractors, used tires, lawn mowers etc., etc. Is there a generic name for these radio shows -- like swap shows or barter shows, etc., etc.??? Thanks SO much! Sandra Johnson
Thanks. I think that locally the first one was created by Alan Reed, was on WAIN, and was called "The Man About Town." Fortunately, he and others are experts in the business who may be able to give a more academic answer. Larry Smith at The WAVE says he's had so much fun with the format that he's thinking of writing a book on the subject. They are the genuine article. A lot of things change hands quickly, and the shows are always entertaining. -EW

The Christmas Story

From Bethlehem: A Savior has been born in Bethehem, also called the City Of David. New Baby is hailed as Christ the Lord. MAP

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around about them: And they were sore afraid . . .

And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 2: 8-14
