Krishana Melson writes:
Those "lodged" were counted where they were located at on April 1. April 1 is the reference day for "Census Day." Each jail/prison is counted and each inmate fills out a census form related to where they were residing on April 1.

Hope this answers your question. -Krishana Melson

Charles Marshburn answers a census question

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I worked for the census bureau this year. Wherever you lived on census day (April 1st) was where you were counted. If you were incarcerated in a correctional facility on April 1 you weren't counted at the residence where you normally resided but would be counted by another census worker in the facility where you were incarcerated -Charles Marshburn

Birds of Kentucky: Our Saturday visitor

A great blue heron provided excitement as it flew overhead and landed, then, a few minutes of wondering if we'd seen it or not. It was hidden in plain sight, only detectable as a blob of grey in a wintry tree. For several minutes it was a nearby photographer's model, whether it was aware of that role or not. Finally, as if to add drama before the denouement, it exited in a frenzy of avionic maneuvers, smoothing into a most serene flight, restoring the peace of Saturday morning at home we'd enjoyed before it stopped by.

By Linda Waggener

Mom spotted it first.

When great blue herons come over our house toward the Town Creek, it reminds me of being at the 1-65 exit and a President's plane comes in overhead on its descent to the Louisville airport.

The sky is ominously darkened, and for a moment, you wonder what unearthly phenomenon is taking place.

Mom saw the big bird's flight, and that it had landed. But when we all scanned the trees, it had blended in so well that we thought at first it had gone.
