The Moon Meteorite of Crocus Creek, 1809

In 1809, part of the Moon fell on Adair County, as reported by one of The Old Turners on Crocus Creek. Jim found this account of it, and dedicates it to the mother of Linda Waggener, Geneice Leftwich Marcum. Both the latter are descended from The Old Turners of Crocus Creek, Adair Co., KY. After studying today's Adair County history lesson, below, carefully, all sincere history students are asked to consider the answer to the questions which has eaten at us all for long, outlined at the end of this "Jim" episode

By "Jim"

This appeared in the October 27, 1920 Adair County News in the Big Elm newsletter, the correspondent for that community being at the time one of the several J.A. Turners.

Poetry by Billy Joe Fudge: Cold December Morning

Cold December Morning
Mr. Jay Bird don't scream at me
This cold December morning.
You can bully other birds around
But I cannot be intimidated.

I'm breathing this Canadian air
Deep into my Kentucky chest.
I feel alive now in the cold
And I will not be intimidated.

The green pine tree, your perch
Is fragrant beyond compare.
Your ranting and railing is wasted,
For I will not be intimidated.

Yes it's a blustery, snowy day
Uncomfortable for some I know.
However for me you may surmise
That, I will not be intimidated

- Billy Joe Fudge
