Earliest records from the Metcalfe County School Board show the school in existence as early as 1899. These records also show T. A. Gooden as Superintendent that year and E. T. Higgason as Trustee. I have a dino lover here and I was wondering exactly where this is located so my son Anthony can see it. I'm sure he will tell an interesting story with the imagination he has just like him telling about the dino bite he received! Can't wait for the new story he tells when he sees this! Can a reader help this young mother? Any leads will be appreciated. Columbia, KY, Arkansan has GoldWinged Canon, CO bridge: 2X

Professor Williams writes of harrowing GoldWing trips over the shaky span, harrowing ride on Canon incline railway, and harrowing warning to those tempted to mispronounce "Arkansas."
Comments re photo 38112 Southwest Trip 16: Favorites Bridge over Arkansas River Photo by Brent Thompson

Born and raised in Abbott, Arkansas

I have ridden a Honda GoldWing across that bridge twice...a motorcycle trip in 1985 and again in 1988. There is an incline railway from the tourist center down into the bottom of the canyon. The track is so steep that each of the "train cars" is actually a set of stairs. When you sit down, your feet are just about even with the shoulders of the people sitting in front of you.

Are frost flowers actually flowers?

Comments re photo 38081 Angel Frost Flowers Amandaville KY Nov 27 2010Leshia Fair writes:
This is very nice. I have not seen anything like this. Is it actually a flower? Does it have another name? -Leisha
A very good question. Awaiting the comment of perhaps as great an authority on the subject as there is anywhere, Billy Joe Fudge, we'd refer you, in the meantime, to a short item in Wikipedia: Frost Flower, where, by the way, the names ice flowers, ice blossoms, frost castles, frost beards, ice castles, ice ribbons, or crystofolia are listed as alternate names.

It probably wouldn't hurt to leave it on a few more days just in case he's still around here somewhere, and by the way, I forgot to put my e-mail on the post, if there's any way you can add it, that would be great, in case he is still around here and someone needs to get in touch with me.
