Water District outlines, starts $8.1 million city H20 Battle Plan
By Ed Waggener The Columbia-Adair County Utilities District voted unanimously to authorize General Manager Lennie Stone to begin preliminary work on Phase I of two-phase battle plan to eliminate the bulk of the City of Columbia's water problems. The total estimate for the project is $8.1 million dollars, according to consulting engineer David Bowles, who outlined the massive public works project at the board's regular November meeting. Phase I will address problems in what Bowles and Stone described as the areas in the greatest need of repairs: Longhunters Subdivision, Downtown Columbia, the Tutt Street area, and the Highway East 80 area.
