Charles Marshburn still having difficulty assimilating Getting used to heritage euphenisms is problem for incomer Comments re: Comment: Adair Co Fiscal Court November 9, 2010 meeting report Charles Marshburn writes: It would seem that it costs a lot less to jail a criminal than to lodge one. Don't understand why a criminal's comfort is so important. Ever seen a Turkish jail? They don't have as many repeat offenders because they are not lodged. Compassion costs.Jesus was wrong? -Ed 2010-11-10 09:42:36 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Aerial view of water plant brings memories of early Fairplay, KY A moment of Thanksgiving: There have been a lot of changes since his boyhood days in Fairplay. Then good drinking water, the best he ever tasted, was readily available only because of good neighbors Finis Albert and Ethel Harvey Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Chris Bennett After taking a photo of the new Adair County Water Treatment Plant on Green River Lake on November 7th, 2010, memories of growing up in Fairplay flooded my mind. Its easy to take things like clean water and electricity for granted today. This was not the case when I was a boy growing up in Fairplay. Our only well was tainted with Black Sulphur. If it wasn't for the generosity of Finis Albert & Ethel Harvey, we wouldn't have had a clean source of water. They let us run a pipe across their property and hook on their clean spring water. (Best I ever tasted.) Often in the summer we would run low, and have to "haul water from town". If we weren't using their water, they would have had plenty. Debts like this cant be repaid, and neighbors like this can never be replaced. -Chris Bennett 2010-11-10 02:27:43 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History
