The Tutt buildings of Columbia

Response to request from Catherine Tutt Green: Wonders about Old Tutt Building in Jim article

By "Jim"

The Tutt building to which the "oldtimer" referred was constructed prior to 1898, almost certainly by Columbia businessman, developer, and entrepreneur N.M. Tutt. Parts of it were variously used (earliest date in parenthesis) by Dr. O.S. Dunbar, a dentist (March, 1898); by Rollin Hurt, Atty (prior to 1900); by the Louisville Bargain Store, which carried "a general line of merchandise, clothing and gent's furnishing goods will be made a specialty" (March, 1902); as living quarters for George Stults, N.M. Tutt, Geo. T. Flowers and Pat Burress (October, 1905); and by the law firm of H.C. Baker & W.A. Coffey (1916).
