Sylvia Kersenbaum will present a guest piano recital at 8pmET/7pmCT, Tuesday, October 26, in The Gheens Recital Hall in Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University DR, Campbellsville, KY. The recital is part of Campbellsville University School of Music's celebration of the 200th anniversary of the births of composers Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann. The Adair Fiscal Court deliberated several important issues at its Tuesday, October 12, 2010, regular meeting. Seen around the table, clockwise, are Magistrates Wid Harris (2), and Danny Goodin (1); Sheriff Ralph Curry, County Judge Executive Ann Melton, County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, Magistrates Billy Dean Coffey (5) and Joe Rogers (6), and Adair County Regional Jailer William "Bug" Knight and Adair County 911 Coordinator Justin Bailey. Out of sight were Magistrates Sammy Taylor (3) and Perry Reeder, and Lisa Lee, who was recording the proceedings. Not present this evening were County Treasurer Barry Corbin, who usually sits at the front table, and Magistrate Terry Hadley, who would usually be seated between Joe Rogers and Bug Knight.

If the orders could be picked up today, it would be great, due to us having to place what is left in the school freezer. We have limited freezer space. Adair Health Dept. will hold extended hours flu clinic

The Adair Co. Health Dept., located at 801 Westlake DR, Columbia, Ky will hold an extended-hours flu shot clinic on Monday, October 25, 2010. Shots will be given by appointment from 10:30am to 6pmCT.

Vaccine is now available for all ages, and everyone age 6 months and over is encouraged to get their flu shots at this time. Flu-Mist intranasal vaccine is available for persons 2 years to 49 years of age who have no health problems, such as asthma or diabetes. A new high-dose vaccine is also available this year for patients age 65 and over.

Recently, Mr. David Paul Neat, of Roseburg, Oregon, visited his ancestral homeland, Neatsville, in Adair County!

Mr. Neat enjoyed researching the Neat family genealogy in Adair County; and especially meeting Adair County Neat family cousins for the first time. Mr. Neat visited with his cousins, Mr. Earl Neat, Mr. Dallas Richard Neat, Mrs. Byron Wyatt Hixson, Mr. Ricky Neat, Mr. Leland Grant, and Mr. Erwin Heinrich Lepiarczyk II; all of Adair County.

Adair Jobs Fair for seasonal warehouse jobs Oct. 19, 2010

Adair County Judge Ann Melton, the Adair County Fiscal Court, and Staff Management are sponsoring a job fair in the Annex Basement, 424 Publc Square, Columbia, KY on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, from 8am-4pmCT.

Judge Melton said that 2,000-2,300 workers will be employed. "We want to see every Adair Countian who needs work or wants work to take advantage of this opportunity," she said.

The fair will be recruiting for work at a large warehouse located near Adair County, KY. These jobs wil be for at least 8-10 weeks and the pay will be from $9.25-10.90 per hour. Both part-time and full-time hours will be available, and all shifts will be available.

Coffee and donuts will be served.

Volunteers needed for Adair PRIDE Fall Cleanup

Roadside PRIDE cleanup day is Saturday, October 23, 2010. Free garbage tipping at transfer station is October 21, 22, 2010

Columbia, KY - Adair County residents are invited to participate in Roadside PRIDE activities planned by Judge-Executive Ann Melton and the Fiscal Court.

On October 21, 22 and 23, 2010, county residents can dispose of trash for free at the transfer station, which is located at 877 L. Willis Road. The drop-off times will be from 7amCT until 3pmCT on October 21, 2010 and 22, and from 7amCT until 11amCT on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

On Saturday, October 23, 2010, volunteers are invited to pick up roadside litter around the county. All volunteers will enjoy a free cook-out, and a prize will be given to the group that brings in the most unusual item found while cleaning roadsides.

  • Jailer told to stay within budget. He says he didn't get requested documents to analyze budget situation from County Finance Officer Gale Cowan; but she says items were printed and Jailer did not pick up in two weeks' time.
  • County Treasurer's Report approved
  • New Green River Animal Shelter Director hired
  • Court votes to pay election workers
  • Votes to replace missing, but later located, election check
  • Court welcomes back A.L. Sinclair
  • 2nd readings on Private passageway, 35 mph speed limit on Keltnertown RD
  • Resolution may help with early warning sirens
  • Meeting well attended

Columbia, KY - Lindsey Wilson College and Georgetown (KY) College decided the 2009 Mid-South Conference Womens Soccer Tournament Championship with penalty kicks in their last matchup. On Tuesday, the Blue Raiders skipped the drama in a 3-0 win at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 155 Holloway DR, Columbia, KY.

Ida Gregersen took a corner kick early in the second half that was played near the goal before being cleared just outside the box to a waiting Elisha Fry. Fry used one quick touch before firing the shot from 30 yards out for the game-winning score.
