Person with ponytail in Rockhouse/ Doodlebug photo?

About: The Rockhouse and Doodlebug Holes photo by Shellie Elmore

We received this letter, and, though we don't ordinarily print letters without signatures, this one is interesting. We'll post and let readers take another look for themselves:
Please don't use my name....I see an image in the upper right hand corner of the picture of a young person with a ponytail with one foot upon the rock and a raised hand as if to say, "hello." Am I just too tired from a 3 day yard sale?????

It really jumped out at me. I never been to this place. Now after seeing this picture, I must make time to go hiking, and picture taking.

I think sometimes people here in our great county drive hundreds of miles to see beautiful places; when we have such gorgeous scenery in our own door.
Yes, we quite agree on trying to see everything here first. One thing I can't see is the person waving in the photo. We'll wait to see if any other readers see the figure you do. -EW

Record crowd sees Bank Robbery Re-Enactment

There's still a whole afternoon and evening of Festival Events. Click to Printable Calendar Saturday Only Schedule courtesy of the BANK of COLUMBIA. Click on headline for Bank Robbery Re-enactment photo(s), as posted

By Ed Waggener
There was a record crowd at the re-enactment of the Bank of Columbia Robbery at noon today.

Charles Grimsley, who has counted the crowds since it became a staple of Folklore of the Old West, said immediately after the show that there were at least 850, and maybe as many as 900-1,000, lining the streets for the occasion. "I count a block of 50 and then use that measurement to count another block of 50. I counted 850 for sure, but I think maybe as many as 150 or more were out of my view."

He attributed the crowd to a number of factors: An absolutely perfect day, a pent-up desire to watch the scene again after a one year hiatus, the outstanding food and improved rest areas on the Square; more and better downtown restaurants, and the vastly improved public parking for this Saturday's show.

Kentucky gets bummer of story as worst run state

California only 49th on list, analysis in Wall Street Journal says.

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Forbes posted a real bummer of a story this morning (Friday, October 8, 2010) re: Kentucky.

The Worst Run State in America? Not California.

The original assessment is from the Wall Street Journal which provided the grist for the Forbes article.

Jon Halsey

Thanks, Jon Halsey. I read the article, which places California as the 49th worst run state in the nation. As all will have guessed, the Forbes weblog story places Kentucky 50th -CM

Heres how it works: you choose the dollar amount to sponsor a band student and then give that amount per hour of marching. For example, if you choose $1 for each hour your student marches, your total would be $12 or 12 hours of marching. We invite the public to come out and watch the students and give them encouragement! -Shamarie Claiborne | (ID:9887, Comment)
