Two drivers airlifted to UL Hospital following Marion collision

Marion Co., KY - Trooper Fred Cornett is investigating a collision that occurred September 30, 2010, at 7:55amET., 2 miles north of Lebanon, KY, on Shortline Pike.

The collision occurred when a 2001 Dodge, being operated by Caleb Clark, age 16, of Lebanon, KY, was traveling northbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a 2001 Chevy van being operated by Shane Mason, age 39, also of Lebanon, KY.

Neither Clark or Mason were belted at the time of the collision and both were flown to the University of Louisville for their injuries. Trooper Cornett was assisted at the scene by Marion County EMS and the Lebanon Fire Department.

O'Neal-VanHoy vows will be exchanged October 2, 2010

John Patrick VanHoy, son of Billy Page VanHoy and Ann Mayo, and Mary O'Neal of Frankfort, KY, will be united in marriage on Saturday, October 2, 2010.

An outdoor wedding is planned. John is the grandson of the late William"Rabbit" Van Hoy and the late Maxine Dohoney VanHoy of Columbia, KY.

Metcalfe Co./SC Rescue House is 1st in the State of Kentucky

Open House is Saturday, October 9, 2010. House will offer temporary housing to families after a disaster. The house is only the third such in the United States. Several items are still needed to have the house ready for occupancy.

Pork Supper at Ireland Community Center Friday, Oct. 1, 2010

The Ireland Community Center annual Pork Supper will be Friday, October 1, 2010 at 4pmET/3pmCT to ??? Diners can choose Pork Chops or Pork Burgers. The proceeds from the supper go toward the upkeep of the Community Center, which is located 4.5 miles south of Campbellsville, slightly over 13 miles north of the Public Square in Columbia, KY, at 4501 New Columbia RD, Campbellsville, KY. (Intersection of New Columbia RD and Milder Creek RD).

The Ireland Community Center was developed by neighborhood landowners after the old Burdick School was discontinued. According to Mrs. Darrell Miller, who looks after the affairs of the Ireland Community Center, about four cookouts are held each year at the center. Large crowds, usually from 300-500 attend each one, she said.

Shiloh Christian Church, 239 Shiloh Cemetery RD, Columbia, KY, in the Ozark community of Adair County, will be dedicating its new pavilion "The Shelter of Salvation and Tranquility" at 1:30pmCT, on Sunday, October 10, 2010.

The present Shiloh Christian church building will also be re-dedicated with a history presentation of the church. We will also have a potluck lunch in the basement at 12pm noon CT. The minister, Bro. Norbert Hall and congregration invites old and new friends to come stay all day or any part of the day and share in this occasion. Morning worship starts 10:30amCT.

Campbellsville, KY - When the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded in 2003, NASA astronaut Leland Melvin rushed to his friend David Brown's home. Brown was killed in the disaster.

He talked with Brown's wheelchair-ridden father who told him he had to carry on his son's legacy of flying in space. Melvin has done that but not without obstacles and God's help in making it happen.

Columbia, KY - A Greater Louisville, KY, church gave Lindsey Wilson College a special treat on Wednesday night. Two members of Covenant United Methodist Church of La Grange, KY, held a cookout on the lawn next to Phillips Hall and gave about two dozen LWC students a break from the usual fare.Each year, Covenant UMC sponsors a cookout on a college campus where its youth members are enrolled. This year, the church will hold cookouts at about eight colleges, including one in Jackson, TN,, and one in Chicago. The Wednesday night cookout was conducted by Covenant UMC Associate Pastor Mel Wilhelm and layperson David Withrow.

Well, well, well, here we go again. Another marching band season and the Adair County Band is out there challenging the big boys on a very competitive national stage.

In a poem I wrote several years ago I opined in one line, rhyme intended, that "Adair might be, could be - The best band in the nation". Hey I just want you to know that I ain't (am not) backing down from that statement one little, smallish, tiny, minute, fraction of a smidgeon. Multiple redundancy intended.
