Pavement milling is popular with paving companies About: Unsolicited thoughts Old paving should be removed. Ground. Reused To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I just wanted to make a comment on this article. Milling of the asphalt is very popular with the companies as it actually saves them money on the oil needed to produce the asphalt. Just recently in the past couple of years, the entire downtown of Columbia was milled up and repaved. Not to mention several other roads out in the county. s/Wally Burress 2010-09-24 20:26:53 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Likes our little town just the way it is About: Unsolicited thoughts Old paving should be removed. Ground. Reused, To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I'd like to recall our memory to the resurfacing of the public square not long ago. Crews spent many hours during off peak times to grind up and remove the old asphalt from the square and the streets approaching it. This was done in order to make a smoother surface without the extra build up. Many times I have seen workers removing asphalt on Columbia streets. I know sometimes we see something being done somewhere else and we think why can't we do that here. The fact is many times we do. Although our little town might not be as fancy as others, I like it the way it is. Thank You, s/Mark Hale 2010-09-24 16:47:14 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
Pavement on Square was a lot closer to sea level when he was a kid Mitch McKinley also wonders if there are any photos of the famed cop-warmer which was on the Historic Adair County Courthouse lawn About: Unsolicited thoughts Old paving should be removed, ground, reused Ecological treatise by Rickie Williams To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I can remember as a kid the pavement around the courthouse was not anything like it is today. There were a couple of steps from the street up to the walkways and to step on the lawn from the street it was a knee high step. Does anyone have a picture of the steps and little red police building that stood on the corner? s/Mitch McKinley 2010-09-24 16:38:39 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
