Dr. Stempel tells KHIPP forum at CU
United Nations can do more jobs, better

Dr. Stempel tells KHIPP conference Bush Administration largely ignored the U.N. in dealings with many countries, but, he says, "It has gradually been dawning even on conservatives that the U.N. can do a whole range of activities cheaper and better than individual nations can do."

Campbellsville, KY - "The United Nations was created in 1945 by 50 nations to keep the peace. The hope that it would guarantee peace for all time fluttered away as the Cold War got going in 1947-1948," Dr. John D. Stempel, senior professor of international relations at the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, said at the latest KHIPP (Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy) event.

The event, always a highlight of Festival, will occur at 12pm noon CT on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Last year, because of issues between the festival sponsors and the Cowboys, the re-enactment was conspicuously absent.

Music and food will play a big role in the event, which kicks off on Friday, October 8, 2010, at 4pmCT, when vendor booths open.

Margie Rooks and I are here today with some really good fall produce. This will be my last day for the 2010 season. Margie will be back Friday and next Tuesday. And we're not sure about the others. Maybe Mr. Scott will have some more Apples. They've been so good this year.

We have only one apology to make today: The regular growers here haven't faired too well in the pumpkin business. We hope that's not the case all over the county. Maybe some local farmer we don't know about will announce a good local crop soon.

Here's what we have for today Print Shopping List:
