Hog Heaven: Perfect weather for riding a Harley

2010-09-17 - Photo by Ed Waggener. Northeast Corner, 400 Quadrant, Public Square, Columbia, KY
Today's fall weather was perfect enough to entice Jerry Quinn, maintenance director for the Westlake Health Care team, to bike to Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY for a troubleshooting job instead of going by car. He rode in style, on a 1992 Harley-Davidson Ultra-Glide, a ride he's owned and meticulously maintained now for seven years.

Wants news on Downtown days

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Three weeks from today starts Down Town days and I haven't seen any thing in Columbia Magazine or any other paper about it.

Is there going to be any entertainment this year?

Is Jesse James going to ride back into town?

Will the Adair County Garden Club have a booth?

They were not at The Expo and I was just wondering if they were still around.

They had some really good apple butter for sale last Year.

s/Elizabeth Lewis

Thanks. We'll put the details on ColumbiaMagazine.com as soon as we know. It's my understanding that this year, the Green River Cowboys will again do the Bank Robbery re-enactment. The Garden Club is very much around, very much active, and Barbara Armitage and M.E. Lewis both say they'll have more for sale than ever before at Downtown Days. -Ed Waggener

Takes issue with BJ Fudge annexation of Creelsboro, KY

About: The Bean pales in comparison to Creelsboro Arch letter from BJ Fudge

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

This all sounds rather amusing what with how the Chicago Arch pales in comparison to Greater Adair County's Creelsboro "Rockhouse Arch" except the Greater Adair County's Creelsboro area and the "Rockhouse Arch" are in actuality in Russell County pending an unexpected late night annexation or shifting of county border stakes.

John E. Moss

Thanks. Of course, very technically speaking, you are right about Creelsboro being in Russell County. Because of the sanctity of the written word by B.J. Fudge, we won't change a comma of his letter, though I will apologize for him being the way he is. The boy does get carried away sometimes, and on rare occasions, he's a tad hyperbolic. We've told him and told him and told him not to exaggerate. Columbia can stand totally on its own merits, just the way Kentucky's other two principal cities, Louisville and Lexington, can stand on theirs. We don't even like to cite comparisons with them. The wasted time could let them catch up with us. I don't know what else to do or tell you. -EW
