Obituary: Donnie Ray Burton, 69, Russell Co., KY

He was a U.S Army veteran and the head of a large family. He leaves 19 direct living descendants

Donnie Ray Burton, Cleveland RD, Russell Springs, KY, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the Russell Co. Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

The family chose cremation. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Adair Countian dies in motorcycle wreck in Pennsylvania

A new Adair Countian, who recently moved here from Seattle, WA, and who had won many friends in his adopted Kentucky neighborhood, died in a highway tragedy in eastern Pennsylvania.

Gregg Lee Gammack, Columbia, KY, was killed after his motorcycle left the roadway, struck a guardrail at Mile Point 19.8 in Greene Township in Pike Co., PA, on Interstate 84 on Thursday afternoon, September 9, 2010.

Campbellsville to open season in exhibition at Diddle Arena, WKU

A late addition to the schedule means an earlier start for Campbellsville University men's basketball. The Tigers and Western Kentucky University have worked out a contract to open their seasons in exhibition Sunday, October 31, 2010, at 4pmET/3pmCT at E.A. Diddle Arena, 1 Big Red Way, Bowling Green, KY.

This will be the third exhibition between the two schools in the four years.

The number of drivers signing drivers licenses to become organ donors in South Central Kentucky is low, especially in Adair County, where the registration hovers around 10% one of the area's and the state's lowest participation rates.

Trey Garmon's (38) led the way for the tribe as they improved their season record to 11 wins and 0 losses for the season in a match Thursday afternoon with Cumberland Co. JVs at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

Blake Maupin's (43) Jerrod Grider's (44) Tanner Garmon's (47) Austin Cundiff's (49) and Easton Ellis's (50) rounded out the scoring for the tribe.

On Thursday afternoon at the Pines at LWC, the ACHS Boy's Golf team put on a performance of a lifetime. The tribe shot an astonishing team score of (143).

That is a team score of 1-under par golf. The tribe's score bested Cumberland County's (223).

The PSA cancer screen is recommended for men over 50 or men who meet any of he following three criteria: (1) Family history of cancer of the prostate or (2) had a vasectomy, or (3) is a black American.

The PSA will be an additional cost of $8.00.
