Aluminum screens may thwart grasshoppers

B.J. Fudge answers cry for help. Suggests aluminum screens as first line of defense against Grasshopper Plague.
About: Oy vey. Grasshoppers attacknew house in greater Fairplay, KY

By Billy Joe Fudge

Grasshoppers and crickets will eat or attempt to eat just about everything that their little mandibles will cut through.

If they can chew it then they assume it is digestible. As a highly developed life form, at least compared to the grasshopper; I've made that mistake a couple of times myself.A simple solution is a trip to the hardware store for aluminum screen. If they start chewing on that then we will have real problems. -Billy Joe Fudge

Thank you Charles Marshburn, for the report: We need immediate action to find out why the creatures find screens so tasty. If anyone out there has photos of grasshopper attacks, please send them post haste.

Where, oh where, is Andrew Zimmern when we need him? What we are facing according to this article in Catholic online, is a Grasshopper Plague of Biblical Proportions. This situation calls the wisdom of Dr. Billy K. Neat, the fondly remembered Adair County varmintologist; and swarms of Green River Lake gulls, and the pragmatic insight of Billy Fudge.
