A New First: More Anniversaries than Birthdays

At 8:55amCT, there was a CM First: There are more anniversaries posted in the Birthdays and Anniversary section today than birthdays. That means twice as many people are rejoicing in marital bliss as are being feted on their birthdays!

That's never happened before.

And the ratio could change during the day. We may have missed some important events. But we're hoping that we get them all. If anyone knows why September 2 was such a good day to get married, let us know that, too.

Frank Lane Wolford
and the Harp of a Thousand Strings

Famed Adair Countian was brilliant criminal lawyer, as well as a highly respected Mexican-American War and Civil War hero and statesman. This story recalls a biographical sketch by another great Adair Countian, H.C. Baker.

By "Jim"

The memory of Col. Frank Lane Wolford is so richly layered with the glory of his heroics in the Mexican-American War and the Civil War it's easy to forget he was one of the most brilliant criminal lawyers ever to charm a jury in the Green River section.

About: Lindsey Jo Taylor donates tresses to Wigs 4 Kids

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

If there's ever been a kid with a heart of gold, it's Lindsey. I'm sure many don't know it but she's also become best friend to many people far from her age. She often visits her great aunt Fay DeVore at Summit Manor. When Lindsey goes to the nursing home, there's not many rooms she doesn't visit. When she's making her rounds, eyes light up and seventy-seven becomes seven again.

Photography: Another CM milestone on Flickr.com

There were 3,523 photos on the ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com at 3:06amCT, Thursday, September 2, 2010.

That's the number that the 92 members of the group will see, when they are signed into their accounts, when they access the site. For others, who are not members, and those members not signed into their Flickr.com account, the number in the ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr was 3,171 at the same time.

Technically speaking, the higher count is accurate, because that many pictures are in the group, but the lower count is what someone will see if they follow a link to Flickr from ColumbiaMagazine.com and don't have a Flickr account.

It's just another reason to join the group. Especially if you have more than a passing interest in photography.

It's also a nominating platform for much higher viewership on ColumbiaMagazine.com, from which "Best of ColumbiaMagazine Group at Flickr.com" are chosen.

Being a member of the group gives access to a good part of two worlds: 1) The community of photographers who exchange more technical information and critiques, and 2) The local community of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties.
