MS Fundraiser is huge success

A preliminary report on the MS Fundraiser at the Fairgrounds Saturday night is that the event was a big success, with $6,000 to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis raised by Mike's Team. A big hit of the evening was a surprise for the organizer, Donna Ellis Feese. Her husband, Junior Feese, sang a tribute to her, "The One He Picked for Me." There wasn't a dry eye in the house, it is reported; the song so accurately reflected the couple's long romance and happy marriage.

Butterflies can drown in watermelon if juice too deep

About: Insects of Kentucky: Butterflies love fallen peaches

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

They also like watermelon.

I put the remains of a watermellon half out for my chickens and the butterflies were all over it.

You have to make sure it is not very deep or the butterflies will get in the juice and drown because they will get too wet to fly.

Colonel Wm. Casey:
A great school in a not so great building

"No. New school buildings do not teach, new hospital facilities do not cure, new roads do not drive, and new courthouses do not judge, but they do help make the people who are in them and use them much more effective and outcomes much more successful." -Patty Jones.

By Patty Jones, Principal

I have read with great interest the comments in one of our local papers made by members of the committee who have filed the petition to recall the Adair County Board of Education's recent increased tax rate.

I wholeheartedly support their right to file this petition and even agree that I do not enjoy paying additional taxes.

'I wasn't a teen of the 60's in Depp's, but I certainly was a happy child of the 60's when I was there -Patty Rush Jones

About: Carol Perkins Lets talk about Depp's Restaurant

My grandparents, Guy and Adele Mitchell, were great friends of the Depps. On weekends when my parents were busy with friends, my grandparents would always take me to Depps for supper, which was usually fried oysters.
