The Adair County FFA kicked off it's second Address Marker selling campaign on Monday, August 23, 2010, with the hopes of topping the 1,000 plus signs produced and sold last year.

FFA Advisor Kirby Hancock said that the price for the delivered signs will be $15 this year, the same as last year, but the $5.00 bargain basement price on the FFA's no-tools-needed posts will be $8, up $3.00 from a year ago. "We are just handling too many posts to be losing money on them," he said.

Elizabethtown, KY. 2010-08-25--Surrounded by community leaders, legislators and local officials, Governor Steve Beshear today announced nearly $151 million in state approved transportation and infrastructure projects for the Fort Knox region. The projects will support the communities in accommodating the growth expected from the federal Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission's 2005 decision to realign to Ft. Knox.

Approved by the state are 11 infrastructure projects proposed through the Lincoln Trail Area Development District's Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA). Also included in the budget are four transportation projects for the region that were prioritized in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's six-year-road plan.

Adair FFA Address Marker Campaign is underway

File Photo. 2009-10-19 - 1535 Bull Run RD, Columbia, KY> - Photo by Barbara Armitage.
Its like night and day: Some folks think that having names and reflective letters on mailboxes is enough to let Emergency Response drivers find their home. They're probably wrong. Barbara Armitage shows, on left, a day time photo of her husband Wayne putting the finishing touches on their address marker. They also have big numbers on their mail box. But guess what shows up in the headlights at night? The address marker, and that's about all, she says. The Adair County FFA is canvassing the county between now and October 1, 2010 selling the markers. Last year, over 1,000 locations had the reflective markers erected.
