Letter in verse from B. Jones
in praise of verse by K. Hill

About: Poetry by Ken Hill The Whittlers Redux

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

ATTA BOY, Ken Hill!!!!!!!!!,,,,,I miss those days, too. Those men were characters.
Pocket knives and watches,
Stories swapped and traded,
Farms and houses bought and sold,
A way of life has faded.

I remember what I was told,
As to why they had to quit,
Something to do with women's shoes,
And brown tobacco spit.

Barry Jones
I didn't understand it then, either, but thank goodness John Shelley pinned "The Whittlers" to preserve that part of Columbia's history.

Dove Hunting: Season opens September 1, 2010

"Dove hunting should be good this fall in Kentucky. Scout the dove field, set up in a good spot, dress properly and respect the landowner. Dove breasts wrapped in bacon and slowly grilled make all the preparation worth it.

Letter: Traffic snarl after Joan Jett
concert has Big Al fuming at Frankfort

Tired and eager to get home to Adair County from Kentucky State Fair, Big Al was slowed by highway construction which slowed traffic on 1-65 to 3 mph. He thinks retribution in order. But Joan Jett put on a great show.

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My family and I went to the Kentucky State Fair to watch the fabulous Joan Jett tonight.

She put on a fantastic show for everyone who attended and even gave a strong performance despite hurting herself in the process. Joan had to sit for a good portion of the show as she hurt her leg early in the performance.
