The school building is no longer standing. There was a house across the road from the school and that building is still standing. Kentucky's jobless rate drops to 9.9 percent in July Economy moving in the right direction By Kim Bannock News from Commonwealth News Center Frankfort, KY, August 19, 2010 - For the first time since February 2009, Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate fell below 10 percent to 9.9 percent in July 2010, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. The revised rate in June 2010 was 10 percent. The July 2010 jobless rate is .9 percentage points lower than the 10.8 percent rate recorded in July 2009 for the state. The 9.9 percent rate recorded in July 2010 is the lowest unemployment rate recorded since February 2009 when the rate was 9.6 percent. Reader seeks enlightenment on Gum Grove To ColumbiaMagazine.com Where is or was Gum Grove? I know of Walnut Grove. s/Ken Page Mr. Page, this issue also troubles me a great deal. I am in the same quandary. I know that two giant figures of present day Adair County, Mr. Rollin Coomer and Mr. Joseph Gadberry, got headstarts on the rest, even we townies, at Walnut Grove. But I am not well versed in matters Gum Grove; which is to say I plead almost total ignorance.
