Special Ads, News, Monday, August 9, 2010 Apologies to our readers Yesterday, Sunday, August 8, 2010, the huge ColumbiaMagazine.com Sunday paper was beaten again by the Sunday New York Times - in national and international news. On the literary scene, our contributors' works far exceeded that of the NYT in quality, and in sports, CM again was tops; there was not one word in the Times about the Countdown to the Saturday, September 4, 2010 football game between the Blue Raiders and Notre Dame. On balance, Sunday with CM was the superior choice, though departmentally, the NYT edged in some departments. (Never in photographs) Thanks for being with us yesterday. But if you were too busy at worship, at play, or just enjoying South Central Kentucky to read the Sunday paper, here's quick accesses to yesterday and the special features. -CM Quick Clicks to Sunday with CM for August 08, 2010, features. Older VFW members will know history of Fairgrounds oaks About: Kentucky Color: Giants Among Us. The Adair County Fairgrounds Oak Trees To ColumbiaMagazine.com: You ought to ask some of the older VFW members about the tree at the fairgrounds. I remember when I was a kid some of them talking about how some of the trees were planted, but don't remember the details. It's sad most of the older members are not here to pass the history on. s/Mitch McKinley 2010-08-09 06:52:46 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
Suggestion: Why not send birthdays for entire family? This morning a neat list, with birthdays listed in chronological order for August, arrrived and were posted. The list was for an extended family. If you'd like to let readers know about the milestones in your family, maybe you'd like to share your family's happy moments through the birthdays and anniversaries column. Who knows? It may prompt a cousin, friend, or even wife or husband to remember to buy a car or diamond for a gift, have a celebration dinner, have a dozen roses sent, or call and say "Happy Birthday," just because they scanned the "Birthdays" column. From the prestigious list of names in the Birthdays column today, it would appear we've gotten a lot of the birthdays for today. But if not, send them and we'll post, as fast as our little fingers can process the information. -CM 2010-08-09 06:10:07 | Comments | Printable version Birthdays and Anniversaries for August 9 Happy Anniversary, Dan and Marty Burris | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, Harmon and Nancy Parnell (1955) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, Todd and Felicia VanArsdale (1997) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Caleb Reed (2013) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Chasity Murphy (1993) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Chris Goodson | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Dawn Reliford (1990) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jerry Lee Burton | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Landon Pennington (2012) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Linda Walker | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Marsha Bennett | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Mason Adams | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Wilburn Cheatham | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birhtday, Sandra Gosser Lawhorn (1952) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, D.
