Seismic Shift. eBooks have arrived

Reading eBooks with free softwear on telephone screen is easy, now
Click on headline for story plus photo(s)

By Pen Waggener

I've been involved in retail book sales for more than a decade, and eBooks have been on the horizon now for nearly all of that time. I think they may have arrived, I downloaded the free Kindle software for my phone just to see what it looked like. Then I downloaded a book that I was planning to read anyway, thinking I'd get started on the phone, and later grab the real copy from the coffeeshop to finish it.

AC Garden Club: Tomorrow is Sneak Some Zucchini Day

The full name of the August 8, 2010 'holiday' is Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day. 'When all else fails in your garden fails, zucchini abounds,' Barbara Armitage. Besides sneaking over to neighbor's porch and leaving some there, she suggests a solution: Make Zucchini Bread, and offers two recipes of the delight.

By Barbara Armitage, President
Adair County Garden Club

Most holidays require that I either cook massive amounts of food or spend huge amounts of money buying presents for someone - I could learn to like holidays that require neither of these things and that encourage me to get rid of something that I don't want.

Gardeners tend to be very frugal folk - from childhood we learn to save seeds for next springs flowers or ask for cuttings from a friend's garden so to ask us not to plant all the seeds in a package or to thin seedling well you may be just asking too much. Which brings us to Zucchini.

Its an exciting time for this football program and this great community. Residents of Columbia are going to start noticing a lot of large young men walking around town. Food: Watermelon gazpacho is next on list

About: It took a little salesmanship on watermelon-tomato salad

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I bet that salad was pretty tasty-I've been eating a ton of gazpacho this summer- both the traditional Spanish pureed style, and the chunky style, and have a watermelon gazpacho next on my list.

It uses watermelon juice for the liquid, and diced onions, tomatoes, chiles and fresh herbs, etc added to that. Gazpacho has been my favorite meal to cool off with after a long day at work. Lots of foods go together wonderfully, even if they break the traditional ways we're used to eating them!
