M.E. Lewis, has questions, offers suggestions on Downtown Days

Downtown Days are October 8-9, 2010

To Columbiamagazine.com:

What are the dates for Downtown Days?

When can we choose a place for our booth?

Why don't we ask people to dress in the time period of the Jesse James bank robbery?

Maybe have a contest for best time period clothes, men, women and children and maybe even family or groups? Maybe pets too!!

Have people who work downtown dress that period the whole week before the event?

Lets get excited about Downtown Days.

I will be selling my Crock Pot Apple Butter again this year. Come by the Adair County Garden club booth and have a free taste. It is GOOOOOOOD.

s/M.E. Lewis

Thanks. The Crock Pot Apple Butter sounds yummy. Charles Grimsley said that Downtown Days and Folklore of the Old West will be Friday and Saturday, October 8 and 9, 2010. The detailed schedule for all events hasn't been set yet. He said that the booth rental details and the events will be sent to the media at a later time. -EW

A day in the life of a house husband: The Tuna Patties incident

Want of an onion for tuna patties started a string of events which caused him to miss worst ever rendition of "The Times They are A-Changing" on episode of Mission Impossible

By JD Gee

Yesterday morning, I asked my beloved spouse what she wanted for supper and she replied, "Tuna patties."

So, I dug out my favorite recipe, looked at it, and realized 1) it called for green onions, and 2) there wasn't an onion - green, blue, chartreuse, or otherwise - in the house, but there was one in the garden. I'd missed it several days back when the rest of the onion patch gave its collective life for a Better Cause.

Out to the garden I went to get an onion.
