Former Adair Countian loves gravel roads in Alaska Advantages include slower traffic and lower costs. Plus, the gravel roads have an 'old time' feeling, reminding her of her childhood About: Interesting Link: Some states going back to gravel roads To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I am a former Adair Countian who grew up on a gravel road and I use to wish it wasn't gravel because of the dust in the summer. But now I live in Alaska and live on a gravel road once again. I can definitely see the benefits of gravel versus pavement. The gravel doesn't crack with cold temperatures or constant travel from heavy vehicles. The gravel road is much cheaper to maintain than a paved road. The gravel.....more often than not, causes drivers to go slower, making the roads safer and I just simply love the "old time" feeling of the gravel roads here. It reminds of my childhood. s/Lisa Garriott 2010-07-19 05:56:24 | Comments | Printable version
