Writer says legalized sales would bring many improvements About: Totally disagrees on legalizing alchohol sales To ColumbiaMagazine.com: An analysis of the budget of a community/county with legalized alcohol and the revenue from the taxes would find many improvements made community wide, from improving the schools to updating buildings and roads/sewers. Totally disagrees on legalizing alchohol sales About: Curry agrees with legal wet vs. illegal wet To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I totally disagree with legalizing alcohol sales, I understand that if you want it bad enough you can get it, but the same old arguments just don't make sense, if it did then you could use the same argument for legalizing marijuana, crack cocaine, meth where do we stop? And what kind of benefits has ever been brought in by the taxes from the sale of alcohol? Take a look at Celina, TN. If they are going to do it then I guess they will find a way but we don't have to make it easy for them! s/Mary Ann Burns Obviously it would take a plumb fool to legalize crack cocaine. Won't comment on the rest of your statement, but glad you mentioned Celina, TN, one of my favorite places on earth. Good people. Good town. Good Barbecue. Good Food. Good churches. Lots of history. Gorgeous scenery. All that and the Free Hills, Dale Hollow Dam. The Seven Sisters. Cordell Hull's First Law office. The one time home of Bill Fisk's Bugle. Don't know if alcohol has anything to do with it, one way or another, but Celina sure is a great town.--Ed Waggener 2010-07-13 14:04:47 | Comments | Printable version

S.R. Curry agrees with legal wet vs. illegal wet Agrees with letter from Ralph Waggener that Adair County is wet - illegally wet now. Why not have the rule of law in alcholic beverage sales. "Campbellsville...is moist, and . .. I can honestly say that the entire town has not become the city of depravity that was predicted by some," letter writer S.R. Curry says To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I agree with Mr. Ralph Waggener it does make more common sense to have legal sales of alcohol, along with the control and tax benefits, rather than the ever present illegal sales of alcohol with absolutely no control or tax benefit for this area. The way things stand today, with illegal sales< a mere child of twelve can pull up to the bootleggers on a bicycle and pick up a pint of liquor because there is no reason to request age verification. All that is required is money for liquor. Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2010-07-13 10:30:06 | Comments | Printable version
