Miss Kenzey has staunch defender; sisters have ardent fan

Crawhorn girls are 'absolute angels,' ardent fan says

Prettiest Spring Ever: Upside down is fine

By "Jim"

Here's an exchange when I sent a link showing the angelic, calendar picture of Kenzey and Alley, the Crawhorn sisters, on ColumbiaMagazine.com.

My comment to her, in full:
I hope these two "buds" bring as much sunshine to your day as they did to mine.

You may remember the younger of the two as Young Miss Kenzey "Do It My SEWF!" Crawhorn, last seen at the end of a sledding trip gone awry. You may also recall that despite her sweet, innocent countenance, she's a hardened criminal, having been caught on camera - by her own Mama, no less -- in the act of swiping the Christ child from the manger. -Jim
And Suzanne wrote back:
Two absolute Angels!!! And I do not think of Miss Kenzey as a hardened criminal, more like a devout activist of human rights; I mean, who in their right mind would leave a baby [let alone the Christ child] laying outside in the snow!!! She was on a rescue mission!! -Suzanne

I always heard ice cream made at home described as homade (only one "m" sound). s/Robert Stone

Thanks. The only issue now is whether it needs an apostrophe or not: homade vs. ho'made? -EW

Lamentations on the state of divers things; how they are, anymore

Regrets for the under utilization of the prestigious Adair Assimilation Academy (AAA). A lament for the improper truncation of a proper local expression store-boughten
By "Jim"

Any more, it's sad that fewer and fewer folks are taking advantage of the free Adair Assimilation Academy seminars. Perhaps they've just forgotten the old adage, "When in Dirigo..."Is it true that a few years back, an outlander tried to change the name of the above-mentioned ACCAA to Adair County Lore & Usage? Inquiring minds, etc.

Billy Joe Fudge: Earthquake insurance a good idea

He remembers the earthquake felt in Adair Co., KY in 1969, and reminds readers that the New Madrid Fault may be overdue for the big one.

By Billy Joe Fudge

Just for your information many homeowners' insurance policies do not automatically insure against damages caused by earthquakes, and no, I do not own insurance company stock!

The recent rash of strong earthquakes in Haiti, Taiwan, Chile, Baja California, Indonesia, and a tremor in New Jersey and another just west of Chicago have me thinking that something extraordinary might be brewing.

Big Census Question: Will Adair Co., KY population be a record?

A gain in population of 1,313 would put census at 1 more than the previous high, 70 years ago, when the population was at its peak: 18,556

By Ed Waggener

Will the census results in 2010 surpass any previous count in the 200 year history of enumerating the population of Adair County?

If Adair Co., KY, were to experience it's greatest population growth in history in the 2000-2010 decade, surpassing the record growth from 1810-1820 of 2,754, it would be 1 soul shy of 20,000.

Lindsey Wilson may be biggest locus of growth

One source of optimism that a record number of Adair Countians will be registered is the high number of residence hall students at Lindsey Wilson College. Adair County students in residence halls out of county will be counted elsewhere.
