Has CM History Sleuth uncovered Murrell Mansion clue?

By "Jim"

Could the proposed "two story frame dwelling on modern plans" mentioned in the following article be the Murrell house at Craycraft recently pictured on CM?
Old Mansion to be Removed
Messrs. Nathan and James Murrell are making preparations to build a two story frame dwelling on modern plans on the spot occupied by their former dwelling which was erected many years ago. The house in which they live is a comfortable log structure and was erected by their grand-father near one hundred ago, in the early settlement of this country. It is a comfortable dwelling and in good condition but it lacks the conveniences of modern structures. Its removal destroys one of the oldest buildings in that part of the county. (Adair County News, July 29, 1903)I believe the James Murrell mentioned is James N. who was appointed postmaster at Craycraft in 1906.-"Jim"

Sunrise Service at Griders Chapel United Methodist Church

Sunrise Service at Grider's Chapel United Methodist Church, 3127 Hwy 1058, Jamestown, KY, in the Bryan Community of Russell County, KY, will be at 6amCT, April 4, 2010. Pastor Bro. Sheldon Alley and congregation invite everyone to attend. -Jacqueline Collins

Readers want to know about Easter Services

Just as the above Eastern Sunrise service was being processed, we received a telephone call asking if there would be other Easter plays and special services other than the ones we already have. "I try to make as many of the plays, every year, as I can," she said.

"When I read her the Grider's Chapel announcement, she said, "I went last year with a friend. It's a really good play." If your church is having a special Easter service, play, or cantata, or event for the kids, why not announce it in ColumbiaMagazine.com? It's a free service. All the announcements should include the answers to the 5Ws and an H questions, and, as a courtesy to our readers, the "Where" must include a Street Number and Street.

We also strongly suggest that names of all performers be included in announcements. Nothing in a story brings such a strong impact multiplier as a name. The more the better.

And, we hope that, while you are sending your Easter announcement you'll take the time to update your Directory of Churches listing and send us a good photo of your church. Linked photos are now being added. Text church w/linked photos church directory notices are free to churches in Adair Co. as well as Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties.

Motorists asked to watch for 5K/Runners Saturday

By Andrea Bailey

The 5K Run/Walk, will start at 8amCT, Saturday morning, March 28, 2010, Columbia, KY from Industrial Drive, and motorists should be aware that slight delays may occur along the route.

We are going to have police and rescue helping, but it might be nice to give people a heads up so they can avoid the area. According to our 'stragetic route planner' here's the area that will be affected:
It will turn out of Industrial Park Drive onto Jamestown Street toward town, turn onto Tutt Street and proceed to Yates Street, turn left on Yates Street, then left on Bomar Hghts, follow Bomar Hghts back to Jamestown Street, then go back the same way.We should have plenty of help for traffic control with the search and rescue team and traffic cones/signs. I'm guessing the majority of the participants will be taking the walking route, too, so they shouldn't get into too much traffic anyway. The walkers will turn around at the light at Speedway.
The interruption will be from then till whenever they finish. Thanks in advance. Andrea Bailey
