Obituary: Roger Leon Baker, 44, Green Co., KY

He was a member of the Auburndale Pentecostal Church in Florida and of the Sons of the American Legion. Mr. Baker was a self-employed construction worker, mechanic, and farmer

Mr. Roger Leon Baker, 44, of the Whitewood Community of Green Co., KY, died Sunday, February 14, 2010, at his home.

The funeral services for Mr. Roger Leon Baker will be conducted at 10amCT, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Ray Judd and Bro. Jim Durham will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9pmCT, Wednesday, February 17, 2010, and after 7amCT, Thursday, until of the service, at the funeral home.

4-H Fundraising Dinner is February 21, 2010

The Adair County 4-H Leadership program will host a ham supper at Adair County Elementary School cafeteria, 870 Indian Drive Columbia from 11am to 1pmCT, Sunday, February 21, 2010. Tickets are $8 and are available from leadership group members or at the door. All proceeds go to the cost of Leadership trip in March. To go orders are available. -Tony Rose

Cumberland Co, KY receives grant to preserve local records

Special story from KY Education Cabinet

FRANKFORT, KY (February 17, 2010) - Cumberland County Clerk Kim King has received a $11,492 grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) to preserve and manage local government records in her office at 212 North Main ST, Burkesville, KY.

KDLA is an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

The funds will be used to produce DVDs of filmed materials that will be downloaded into the office's imaging system. In addition, plats will be filmed and downloaded onto the imaging system.

Obituary: Mary Ruth Stone, 86, Adair Co., KY

Mrs. Stone was a faithful member of Columbia First Church of the Nazarene. She made many, many friends during her years as a school teacher and while working as a bookkeeper for leading Columbia businesses over the years. She and her husband, the late Reid Stone, are remember for the beautiful music they render at church and memorial services .

Mary Ruth Stone, 86, Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 6:20pmCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Robert McKenzie and Rev. Scott Ezell officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home after 5pmCT, Friday, February 19, 2010.

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

The Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of 39-year-old James Moore of Edmonton. Post 15 received the call from the Metcalfe County dispatch on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at 3:11pmCT . Glasgow 911 Center had received a call from someone who stated that there was a body in the residence at 110 High Street in Edmonton. Glasgow then contacted Metcalfe County dispatch to inform them of the complaint. At 2:53pmCT, Police, Fire and EMS personnel had been dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival they found the body of James Moore; Coroner Larry Wilson requested KSP respond.

METCALFE CO., KY 2010-02-16 - Trooper Daniel Stephens of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, is investigating a one vehicle collision which occurred Wednesday, February 16, 2010, 8 miles east of Edmonton, KY on US 68.

Ricky Young, age 48, of Edmonton, was traveling east on US 68 in a 1999 Chevy four door when he lost control of his vehicle.

Dr. Baughman makes lead gift for building
new $425,000 tennis courts at LWC


Lincoln County native is major tennis star in own right. has been ranked No. 1 in Kentucky more than 60 times, and 15 times he has been ranked No. 1 in the nine-state United States Tennis Association Southern, the largest association in the United States. He has also earned a No. 4 national ranking in 70 and over singles

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College has received a lead gift to build new tennis courts.

The lead gift from Henry Baughman of Smithfield, KY, will allow the college to build a $425,000 tennis complex, according to Lindsey Wilson Athletic Director Willis Pooler.

Joshua Robbins age 20 of Loretto, was operating a 1986 Ford F-250, when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The announcement takes precedent over an announcement last night that schools would operate on a one-hour delay this morning.
