Adair Co. Schools on 1 hour delay Wed., Feb. 17, 2010 Classes in the Adair County School District will be back in session on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, but will be on a one-hour delay, David Jones, Director of Student Transportation for the District, announced at 3:29pmCT, on Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2010. He said that if unexpected bad weather should necessitate a change in this announcement that it will be made as soon as possible through local media, including ColumbiaMagazine.com. "Some people question why we have the one hour delay, commenting that there can't be much additional thawing in one hour," Mr. Jones said. "They deserve an answer, and it is that it is a matter of visibility. When there's even a remote possibility of ice," Jones said, "we want the drivers to be perfectly able to see the roads and the children. We don't want any child picked up in the dark tomorrow morning." 2010-02-16 15:40:11 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Education
