Hail, Hail Roger Dale. From another E.H.L. fan

About: The Fashionable Columbian:Socks can make such a quiet, profound statement

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Hail, Hail, Roger Dale.

I too, like Mom, who was a real fan of E.H. If he likes green socks, then so be it!

Maybe his black socks were dirty.

Or, maybe some days you just don't "give a hoot" and you want to make a statement.

I have a pair of white socks that I think would look good with my black pin stripe suit, but have never had the nerve to wear!

Hats off to E.H. Make another statement.

There is a certain class in that.

Readers photos, experiences, tips for attracting birds will be greatly appreciated today, Sunday, and Monday. -EW

By Ed Waggener

This morning, with the first full day of the Great Backyard Bird Count behind us, Adair Countians are leading the way for all of North America.

So many are participating that Birds is becoming another National Sport for the community.

This is the second day of the Count, which runs from February 12 through 15, 2010.

Columbia, KY is currently No. 1 in the nation, by a fair margin, and a runaway 1st in Kentucky, in checklists submitted. To be sustained, Barbara Armitage of the Adair County Garden Club says, the pace will have to be increased, and she's hoping everybody will spend this Saturday observing birdfeeders, doing a roadside survey, visiting a wilderness area in the county, or going to a place where water meets the land to see the greatest variety of birds.
