CU goes to snow plan for Wednesday, Feb. 10

Campbellsville University announced at 6:30 p.m. that students and faculty will be on the snow plan in the morning. The first classes will be held two hours later than regular schedule, with shorter class times throughout the day until the schedule is caught up with 2:00pmET classes back on regular schedule.

The Adair Co. 7th and 8th grade teams competed in the conference championship last night against Russell Co. The 7th grade team was defeated in a close game but the 8th grade team was victorious. The 7th grade team finishes the season as regular season champions and tournament runner-up. The 8th grade team finishes the season as regular season and tournament champions.

The first Strong Women program offered by the Adair County Health Department has ended with 17 successful participants. The Strong Women program is a 12 week exercise program for women 40 and over.

The leaders were Kelli Bonifer and Jelaine Harlow. The class included Linda Brock, Kim Foley, Diane Benningfield, Leader Lee Ann Jessee, Leader Jelaine Harlow Betty Coop, Judith Goodin, Sandra Evert, Jackie Montgomery, Elizabeth Webb, Dawn Coomer Laverne Jessee, Alterine Hadley, Rosanna Bennett, Darlene Simpson, Janet Sewell, Rhoda Schubert and Anita Franklin, and Teresa Corbin.

Comment on Chocolate Lab at Walmart

About: Reeses Bennett Dog may be the missing chocolate lab

I don't know if this dog just happened to jump off the back of a pickup while its owner shopped. However, I saw a chocolate lab the last time I was shopping at Walmart, and since I have traveled to Jones Chapel road, I realize its not that far from Walmart. I have no idea if it is still around Walmart or not.

No School in Adair Co., KY today. Possibility of black ice

David Jones, Director of Student Transportation for the Adair Co. School District called at 5:00amCT, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 to announce there wlll be
"No School in Adair County today"
"It's not snowing much, yet, he said, "but the way the temperature keeps hovering around 33-34 degrees, we're afraid there may black ice on the some of the roadways. We're really afraid of that."

He urges Adair County motorists to be extremely careful during the morning commute.

I'm trying to find the owner of a young black Lab mix that got hit last night in front of the Dollar General Store. He seems to be alright, just a few cuts and scrapes. Campbell, KY, on Saturday, February 6, 2010, for the deployment of her husband, PVT Jeffrey Adam Yarberry, 101st Airborne Division, who was leaving for a one-year tour in Afghanistan. The couple's home is in Columbia, KY. Another Columbian, photographer Caleb Irvin, was along for the event, and captured this moment of some last precious moments together before his departure.

Salato Wildlife Center re-opens February 16, 2010

Center named for late Columbia, KY, physician, Dr. J.C. Salato

The Salato Wildlife Education Center, 1 Game Farm RD, Frankfort, KY 40601 will re-open for the season beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2010.

The Salato Center has a variety of native animals for people to see, including a black bear, bobcats, elk, deer, bison, eagles, snakes and fish. The center has numerous indoor exhibits and miles of hiking trails open to the public.

Fishing is available at two lakes. While some programs may require a registration fee, general admission to the Salato Center is free.The Salato Center, operated by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Hours of operation are 9amET/8amCT to 5pmET/4pmCT Tuesdays through Fridays and 10amET/9amCT to 5pmET/4pmCT. Saturdays. The center is closed Sundays, Mondays and state holidays.

The Adair County Project Development Board will have a meeting on Tuesday of each week at 4pmCT at the Adair County Judicial Center located at 201 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY 42728 until further notice. The estimated move in date is the last week of February so meetings will be held each week to deal with any last minute questions/concerns that might arise. There will be a Relationship Revival on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, through Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Great Oaks Ministries, 197 Kelleyville Road in the Coburg Community of Adair County. The revival will focus on our relationships with Christ, spouses, family members, and neighbors. Worship will be led by Blended By Christ on Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 6:30pmCT with various speakers including Carl and Sherri Johnson, Rick and Kathy Shelton, April Beard, and Troy and Stephanie Long. Wednesday night is Youth Night, and the group Steadfast will lead worship with Jon Redford and Jennifer Redford joining the team of speakers. The Wednesday evening service will begin with a meal at 5:30pmCT and worship at 6:30 p.m. CST followed by an evening of commitment for our youth as we celebrate True Love Waits.
