Adair County Water District meeting, January 2010 report

Water violation was a problem with distribution from Columbia Utilities' Water Department's Page Street tank, but had to be attributed to manufacturer. Commission has executive session for purchase of real estate, now know to be 1.75 acres in Holladay Place, purchased from the Holladay Place LLC for $225,000

By Ed Waggener

At the regular January 2010 meeting, Adair County Water District Manager Lenny Stone addressed the issue raised in a recent mailing to customers of Columbia Utilities about "High Levels of Haloacetic Acids Above Drinking Water Standards."

A letter states, in part, "Columbia Utilities purchases all drinking water from Columbia/Adair Water system. Recently Columbia/Adair violated a drinking water standard." The statement would infer that the problem exists at the new Columbia-Adair Water Treatment Plant on Green River Lake.

Actually, the problem is not with the new treatment plant, Stone said. Nor is in any way a result of Adair County Water District operations.
