Ah! the perils of being a bird photographer . . . About: Kentucky Color: The Great Holly Berry Heist To ColumbiaMagazine.com: A friend of mine sent me the link to this article....As I was having my morning coffee, I read about the antics of the bird thieves with their stolen holly berries. The author's fear of being bombarded by reprocessed holly berries brought back recent memories for me. One evening, while I was out taking pictures of buildings in the Theater District in Houston, the birds exploded all around us. I tried to shoot decent pictures of the bird explosion, as it was taking place around me. Before long, I noticed that the stuff that was falling on my head and my camera was not rainwater. I decided to retreat from the area, and let the birds get a little exposure to the theater. s/Lisa ComperryLaPorte, TX 2010-01-15 06:05:57 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback

Dream of Coming to Adair Co., KY began Aug. 3, 1998 with first land purchase Merl & Pat Wiggins, soon to be Adair County residents, write from 7203 miles from Columbia, KY, expressing recognition of The Adair County Way, though not calling it that, so well: Since 1998, Adair County and the town of Columbia have been through many ups and downs. I read daily of the many trials and successes the local citizens have gone through. Supporting or disagreeing over various issues with each other, the one thing that stands out is the openness in which issues can be discussed and debated. When the question is decided, the community bonds are not broken, but are strengthened. We meet new people every trip to Adair. Their response is the same; always a friendly greeting and an open armed welcome to the community. A response to: Lee County Floridian set to live in Adair Co in 2.5 years By Merl and Pat Wiggins, already Adair Countians at heart Dhahran, Saudi Arabia From One Outsider to Another, My wife and I purchased our first parcel of land in Adair County on August 3, 1998. The date is special to us. We feel as though we are part of the local community, even in our absence. Allow me help with the math. That would amount to 11 Years, 7 months, and hopefully only a few days more of living a dream that is soon to be reality.
