Adair Co. Firemen respond to fire at R & F Industries

The Adair County Fire Department responded this evening, Wednesday, January 13, 2010, to a call of a large dumpster fire at 177 Old Burkesville Loop. The dumpster is used by and located on the property owned by R & F Industries. Fifteen Firefighters were on the scene for One Hour. Fire Report by Mike Keltner

    A lot of the Blue Jays are on my property. Every morning there are a lot of them eating off of a large flat rock in my front yard, my husband says there are at least twenty eating. They are hard to count because they fly in and out so fast. I feed them whole peanuts,sunflower seeds, sunflower hearts, cracked corn and whole corn kernels.

    Overcorrection a factor in vehicle-tree collision

    Driver treated and released at Springview in Lebanon, KY; two passengers airlifted to Louisville, KY; none of occupants were wearing seatbelts

    SPRINGFIELD, KY - Trooper Nathan Rhodes is investigating an injury collision that occurred at 10:20pmET, 12 miles north of Springfield on KY Highway 429. Samantha Seger, 17 years old, of Springfield, KY was operating a 2002 Ford southbound on KY Highway 429, when she dropped off the shoulder of the roadway.

    Seger overcorrected and ran off the roadway, striking a tree. Seger was treated and released at Springview Hospital. There were 2 passengers in Seger's vehicle: 14 year old Lee Ann Abell and 15 year old Emily Seger, both of Springfield

    Both passengers were flown to the University of Louisville, KY. where they will be treated and released. No occupants in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

    It's the birthday of Mike Harris

    Mike Harris, President of Shoreline Communication, Columbia Attorney, Adair County School Board member, barbecue brisket chef extraordinaire, and the man who sends Larry Smith his whopping paycheck every week, turns 50 today, according to Larry Smith.

    "Mike is without a doubt the best employer in the country," Larry Smith, 92.7 FM the WAVE and 99.9 FM The BIG DAWG program director, said. "He comes out to the station with his grill and fine china and cooks for the staff regularly."

    For that and many other reasons, Larry Smith urges everyone today to wish Harris and all the other important people having birthdays today, a very Happy Birthday, and to encourage R.L. Walker, the most famous Happy Birthday singer in Adair County, to serenade them with the celebrated made-in-Louisville song.

    In last night's Fiscal Court meeting, with all seven magistrates present, the Adair County Fiscal Court voted unanimously to move ahead with Adair County Courthouse Preservation project, authorizing and underwriting an engineering contract with Engineer Greg Eastham to do the preliminary design/restoration work involving the removal of the 1974 additions.
