The very fashionable Bodie Chayanne

2010-01-11 - Photo by Jane Marcum. "Bodie is a beautiful blonde Ha. Morkie," writes Jane Todd Marcum. "In this family that stands for Marcum Yorkie, but technically she is a Maltese yorkie. Her new sheep-lined coat sports a Scottish pattern giving a nod to her McClure/Marcum roots in Sulphur Well, Metcalfe Co., KY. But sadly she could not wear the black rubber snow boots found at her aunt's. She does not like very much jewelry in a collar, but opts for a fur lined body harness in basic black with a red handled 12 ft extension leash so that she can really put on the dog and show her range when she hustles into the car and puts on her Sweet Face to beg for bitty bones at the bank drive thru and scamming the ladies at the local dairy queen for a puppy cone or a bit of chicken strip. She has an open, unassuming personality and has had a ball - or maybe I should say 'snowball' with our recent all white winter weather. Bodie only acknowledges her full name, which is 'Chayanne Bodie' when she has ever so slightly bent a rule. With her pet blue hippo, squeak monkey and tug rope she has settled into the Kentucky scene quite easily."

Cold weather should make smallmouth bass fishing better

Fishing below Wolf Creek Dam on Cumberland River should be really good next couple of months, director of state fisheries says

From KY Fish and Wildlife

FRANKFORT, KY - Snow is blowing across much of Kentucky right now, and forecasters predict we won't crest the freezing mark for a while.

While this week's arctic winds are making life more difficult now, our current conditions should make for better fishing in the future.

Ancestral wagon broke down in Lee Co., FL

About: Settler stopped off in Atlanta, GA, a few years on way to Columbia KY

To Mr. Charles Marshburn via CM:

Tampa is a beautiful place, and the snook are difficult to catch.

I have done some bass fishing in my life, but not to any great extent.Maybe you can show me how they do it in Kentucky. I figure that Adair County Kentucky will get me just a little closer to heaven, beause that is surely what heaven must be like.

Daddy said he got to Lee County Florida because that is where the wagon broke down. So he stayed.

School drives, parking lots too icy this morning, writer says

About: There will be school Monday, January 11, 2010 in Adair Co., KY

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

As a parent, along with other parents I've spoken to this morning, I must say I was livid when I took my children to school this morning.

The conditions of the school parking lots and entrances was atrocious. After speaking to Mr. Treece this morning, I found out it is the school's responsibility to clear the area, but someone certainly dropped the ball.

It did not look to me as if there had been anything done to clear the area. I saw four wheel drive trucks and buses spinning tires trying to get in the entrances and up the inclines to the schools.

The area we let our children out in the rear of Col. Wm. Casey was covered in ice. It was in no way a safe area for our children and the employees of the school system.

I do not understand how anyone who may have driven out to school early this morning to check on the conditions would have said they were acceptable for traffic. Seems we could do better.

Settler stopped off in Atlanta, GA
a few years on way to Columbia, KY

About: Lee County Floridian set to live in Adair Co in 2.5 years

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I did my tobacco time in a field in North Carolina.

I spent 40 years in Tampa, Florida, and have the reputation as the worst snook fisherman on Tampa Bay.

I am a mean largemouth bass fisherman (referring of course to the fish) and have caught many a speckled trout and redfish.

I gave my Uncle Sam four years and two months in his Air Force.

Don't know where that sawmill is that you refer to, but know you will like Columbia. I too am a transplant having stopped, for a few years near Atlanta, Georgia, on my way to Columbia.

I am somewhat familiar with Lee County and have visited friends on Sanibel Island and in Fort Myers. I hope your transition to Columbia is a pleasant one.

s/Charles Marshburn
