Look alikes: Tiger and Rudy

2009-12-28 - Columbia, KY and Texas .
"I was looking on CM this morning, and I came across a face I thought I knew," writes Tracy York of Columbia, KY. The little dog named Tiger, left looks just like my dog Rudy. How crazy is that?" Tiger's picture came to us from Texas via via Robert Stone, Lebanon, TN. Tiger is the little dog who became so obsessed with his Christmas stocking that the family finally gave him his presents well ahead of the holiday.

Coffee Can Fund uses 100% to help others

About: Plum Point Baptists use Coffee Can Fund to help others

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I just wanted to add that 100% of the money donated to the Plum Point Coffee Can Fund is used for people with an immediate need, or for children at Christmas, etc. Since the church members donate their time and work, no operating cost comes out of it.

So, if you are wanting to make a donation where 100% of your donation goes directly to the cause, this is a good place to do it.

By Ludora Perkins

Just to let you know about this year's Coffee Can Fund at Plum Point Baptist Church - we're continuing to help needy families in the community have a happier Christmas. We took 21 kids Christmas shopping this year.

As you know, our adult Sunday School Class collects money every Sunday in a Maxwell House coffee can for helping others. If we know about a family who loses a home or has some financial difficulty during the year, we try to help a bit by giving them $300.00.

Carol Perkins: The taxi ride

"You would be very sorry if you got us killed," our intrepid columnist, a travel writer in this column, warned the cab driver, whom she and three other passengers each peppered with more driving advice than Hyacinth Bucket dishes out in Keeping up appearances on liberal Tv.
The next earlier Carol Perkins store, Christmas on Christmas Island?

By Carol Perkins

The first cab could not take us to our hotel because we had too many pieces of luggage to fit inside his car. He waved for the next in line. There were three of us and each brought a big suitcase and a carryon. We planned to do some serious Christmas shopping during our four day visit.

The next cab was a little larger, so we rolled our luggage in the rain while the smiling cab driver happily greeted us and then stuffed each bag in the trunk. He wasn't as tall as I, and I only say that because when he got behind the wheel, he needed a booster seat to see over the steering wheel. I like my cab drivers to be able to see the road.

Kentucky Color: Sawbriar red, orange and black

The next earlier Kentucky Color by Billy Joe Fudge, Clinton and Wayne Co., KY hills as seen from Mark Parrish's yard on Sparksville RD, Adair County, KY

By Billy Joe Fudge, President
Homeplace on Green River, 6035 New Columbia RD, Campbellsville, KY

Sawbriars grow low to the ground and they will also climb bushes, fence posts, etc. They are incredibly hard to kill and they tormented farmers of the past because cultivation seemed to just spur them on.

They have a root system that can be as much as two feet deep in really good soils which is one of the reasons it is hard to control.

(ADV) It took almost three weeks, but Leapster is sold

Occasionally, South Central Kentucky's liveliest marketplace, ColumbiaMagazine.com Classifieds is a little slow, but most of the time, classified ads in ColumbiaMagazine.com work. This letter tells of one which took almost three weeks before it was successful. But it did. We received this note a few hours ago:
"Please remove the Leapster Click Start Learning System from the classified ads. It was bought as a Christmas gift. Thanks so much for allowing individuals to post items for sale on Columbia Magazine. It is a wonderful resource for the community." -Angie
The ad is deleted. We appreciate everybody's help in keeping the classifieds up to date. And we hope several games will be added today.

Today is a great time to post your games or other classified for sale. There's a lot of Christmas gift cash out there, and your no longer needed or wanted item may be a dollar stretcher for someone who received cash for Christmas. Most classified items are free for readers in Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties. Terms for each classification are posted with the classifieds. Use any Contact/Submit button.
