Letter to the Editor: Thanks to all who supported schools To ColumbiaMagazine.com On behalf of the Adair County Board of Education, I would like to express ourappreciation to all those who supported the nickel tax in last week's election.By doing so, you were voting for the students of Adair County. We also greatlyappreciate the efforts of the Community Working for Children support groupthat worked and placed ads on behalf of our kids. During the weeks leading up to the election we tried to show the facility needsof the school system and specifically of Colonel William Casey ElementarySchool. We appreciate those who voiced their questions and concerns and gaveus the opportunity to present the facts. Also, we want to give special thanks toall the media for allowing us to get our message out to the public. We will continue to educate our students and keep our facilities functional fortheir benefit. However, the needs remain and our options are limited on howwe can address the needs. We still invite anyone to come and see the needsfirst-hand. Feel free to contact me or any Board member if you have questions. Or contactthe Board office or CWC Elementary to tour the facility. s/Darrell Treece, Superintendent 2009-12-24 10:48:18 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Education
Luttrells get to see paratrooper action at Ft. Benning, GA Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Cathy Luttrell While on our trip to Ft. Benning, GA, to see my nephew, Zachary Janes, graduate from army basic training, one of the most awesome things we got to see was the paratroopers jumping from a C-130 airplane. It was located at Fryar's Field and it was just unbelievable to see these soldiers jumping like they did. 2009-12-24 10:05:48 | Comments | Printable version

(ADV) List now for after Christmas sales with CM Classifieds The time around Christmas - both before and after is a great time to sell in CM Classifieds, as the seller of this entertainment center writes. It sold after just five days in the listings: Entertainment Center for sale. It is oak in color. There is a side door which will hold several DVDs or VHSs. It is flat on top which makes a great shelf. There is a section at the top which can easly hold a DVD, player VHS player, xbox, wii, etc. It will hold up to a 27" Tv. there are two glass doors at the bottom which open to a storage or which are an adjustable shelf.Classified sales work well for people looking for gifts, before Christmas, but may work even better after Christmas, particularly with good, used items. The reason, online merchants have long found, is that - crass as it may seem to some folks, practical as it may seem to others - cash and checks are very common Christmas gifts and because of that, sales of used items may spike again in the days and weeks after the holidays. People with cash want to get the best value for their money, which often means finding good used stuff which the seller no longer needs through ColumbiaMagazine.com classifieds. That's just one example of a quick sale of an item listed in CM Classifieds, South Central Kentucky's liveliest marketplace. CM Classifieds change continuously: One very active category is SERVICES; check it out today and every day when you need the services of an electrician, a plumber, a good insurance agent or even an architect. If you're a business, call us at (270) 250-2730 to use this highly effective advertising. Send your classified listings now using any Contact/Submit button on the site. Most classifieds qualify for Free listings. All classifications are clearly marked with terms of service. 2009-12-24 05:11:03 | Comments | Printable version
