KY's jobless rate drops to 10.6% in Nov. 2009

From KY Education and Workforce Development Cabinet

FRANKFORT, KY (Dec. 17, 2009) - Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate declined .7 percentage point to 10.6 percent in November 2009 from a revised 11.3 percent in October 2009, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

November 2009's jobless rate is 3.4 percentage points higher than the 7.2 percent rate recorded in November 2008.

State's economy shows signs of stabilization

"Kentucky's economy continued to show signs of stabilization in November 2009. However, individuals who have faced long-term unemployment dropping out of the labor force and a rise in the number of people working part-time for economic reasons contributed to the decline in the unemployment rate," said Dr. Justine Detzel, OET chief labor market analyst.

(ADV) Shoot when the ducks are flying

There's an old saying in advertising, "Shoot when the ducks are flying."

It's about timing. Offer to sell when most people are shopping for that item.

That's why South Central Kentucky's liveliest marketplace, the CM Classifieds, have such a high turnover during the Christmas Holidays. People are shopping for every possible item, from good used hunting equipment, to musical instruments, to games, clothes, even first wheels for beginning drivers.

If you're selling, look first in Want to Buy. You may already have a customer for an item.

During this season, we hope you'll start at the top of the Classifieds and thumb through "Adair County Christmas." Check out the Christmas Cards and scroll down from there. Merry Christmas -CM
