Navy veteran, father of kindergartnener at CWC, not for new school About: Joe Hare says with right answers from Board, he'd vote Yes I am commenting on the idea that the government is going to help us out. In the long run it does not matter where the money comes from, we still end up paying taxes whether it is state or federal. I have been to CWC as my youngest daughter is in kindergarden! I find the school to not be in bad shape compared to some of the schools that are in Michigan. Alysha Wilson attends commissioning of warship USS New York LWC sophomore, Alysha Wilson, Greensburg, KY, was part of history last month Click on headline for story plus photo By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs COLUMBIA, KY - A Lindsey Wilson College student was part of history last month when she attended the commissioning of the USS New York. LWC sophomore Alysha Wilson of Greensburg, KY, attended the Nov. 7 ceremony in New York because her fiance, David Foley, also of Greensburg, is a member of the warship. The permanent home of the USS New York - which was christened in March 2008 at Northrop Grumman's Avondale Shipyard outside of New Orleans - is in Norfolk, Va. Its commission ceremony was held in New York because 7.5 tons of the ship's steel is from the World Trade Center Towers. The steel was used in the ship's bow. Question's Answered: Joe Hare will be voting for tax He's satisfied with the figures Mr. Treece provided, that he had questioned, even though he continues to be respectfully at odds on the issue of Change Orders. About: Renovation of CWC would require ALL local funds, greater taxes By Joe Hare Thank you, Mr Treece for your reply and answers to my comments regarding the upcoming "nickel" tax vote. You did provide the cost estimate numbers that I questioned and will accept them at their face value and will be voting for the tax. As for your response to the change order comment, I must respectively disagree with you on that matter. I spent nearly 40 years working in utility business, dealing with and working for city governments. I my experience there, I did deal with many contracts and I never remember using a change order to fix a mistake a contractor made. The change order we are discussing, I did not deal with as you did, so I may not know all the facts, but on it's face I have to disagree with a change order being issued in that instance. Good luck with the vote and new building. Please be a frugal as possible with OUR money, we will be watching. 2009-12-04 12:34:01 | Comments | Printable version

Renovation of CWC would require ALL local funds, greater taxes Superintendent Treece says that while renovating CWC would cost slightly less than building a new school, it would have to be done with all local funds, requiring greater local taxes. And the system would be left with an old school. About: Joe Hare says with right answers from Board he would vote Yes Response to Mr. Joe Hare's Questions by Adair County School Superintendent Darrell Treece Thank you for your concern and being willing to keep an open mind. In conjunction with the reply that I made yesterday to Marsha Allen's concerns, I will try to address the questions that you have. I came to Adair County in 2003 so I cannot speak to anything that happened prior to that. It is my understanding that prior to demolition the old high school was determined by the state to be structurally sound and a state grant was given to Adair County to renovate the school. Thanks to Ralph, It's Just for a Smile News About: It's Just for a Smile News backs new Casey School Seeing the photo and brief highlight of the editorial endorsement by Ralph for the repairs on CWC, I want to express my appreciation for the Just for a Smile News. For many months, my husband and I have been frequent visitors to the area and have enjoyed reading both the editorials and the light and humorous clips that are included. We first encountered the paper while spending many hours in the Westlake Hospital waiting areas. This helped to brighten our spirits on many occasions. Best wishes for many more years of your publication. Of course, it goes without saying that we enjoy our daily read of the CM. Keep up the excellent work. By the way, I am a public school teacher in Hendersonville, TN. I know how critical a well-maintained and properly designed physical space is to the teaching/learning process. Let's hope that everyone in the community will become interested and motivated to do something about what sounds like a very real problem. Thanks for listening. s/Margaret Bault Varble Former Adair County resident currntly living in Hendersonville, TN 2009-12-04 09:40:35 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
