The Bobcat: Goose it and give it cold nose treatment; make it jump

About: How will the cute little Bobcat get out?

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My best guess as to how to get the Bobcat out of this hole is to goose it or give it the cold nose treatment and watch it jump out. Probably other more practical ways like use the crane they have at this same site to lift it out but my idea would be a lot more fun to watch.

The Bobcat: Mike Mulligan was faced with same problem

Some insight from engineer working on Wolf Creek Dam
About: How will the cute little Bobcat get out?

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

As an engineer myself and surrounded by huge cranes everyday (working at the Wolf Creek Dam), I would have to submit the practical answer of using a small crane or excavator to lift the wee bobcat out of his hole.

However, the image and question called up an ancient memory of one of my favorite childhood story books, "Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel." In that book (originally published in 1939), which I must have read hundreds of times in my youth over 4 decades ago, Mike and his trusty steam shovel, Mary Ann, are faced with that very same question! Do any of your readers remember the solution and remedy in that tale? :)

ACHS in Top 25% of all Kentucky High Schools

By Doug Holmes, Assistant Principal, Adair County High School

I wanted to share the following good news about ACHS with the local community:

According to the latest release of test scores from Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Adair County High School, 526 Indian DR., Columbia, KY, is in the top 25% of all KY high schools.

Adair County High School ranked 48th out of 228 high schools in the Commonwealth.

Moreover, ACHS is third out of 26 surrounding high schools.

The scores are a result of the curriculum, policies, and procedures enacted over the past couple of years, along with hard work from the faculty and staff.

The students of ACHS should be commended, as well, for applying the knowledge they have gained from quality teaching.
